  • The Hewitt Study identified four Minnesota corporations among the 2009 Top Companies for Leaders: 3M,. Cargill, Target, and General Mills.
  • How do these organizations actually develop leaders?
  • What are the practices that really matter in developing leaders?
  • What sets these organizations apart from others?

What can we learn from these leadership practices that could help guide   leadership development in other sectors, including public, nonprofit, and private organizations?

The Global Top Companies for Leaders study is conducted by Hewitt Associates, in partnership with the RBL Group. a strategic HR and leadership systems advisory firm, and FORTUNE. This year's winners were selected and ranked by an expert panel of independent judges based on criteria including:

• strength of leadership practices and culture
• examples of leader development on a global scale
• impact of leadership in communities in which they operate
• business performance
•company reputation

This event will hold particular relevance for public, private, educational, and nonrofit leaders; University students who are themselves emerging leaders; and faculty members across University colleges with a focus on leadership development.
